White Beaded Necklace with Golden Accents
Sorry, currently out of stock
Inspired by one of the main characters from Hawthorne's novel The Marble Faun, this necklace reminds us of the beauties of a spotless conscience and a loving heart. Hilda is a young woman so pure and innocent as to seem harsh at times in her response to her friends' sins. But her thoughts and feelings develop in complex and beautiful ways, so that near the end of the novel, we see her confident in an unorthodox spiritual choice and softened in her attitude toward her morally complicated but loving friend Miriam. She's finally able to harmonize her earthly interests with her heavenly ones simply and elegantly.
The necklace named for her combines a circular focal, symbolizing eternity and perfection, with shades of white representing Hilda's innocence. The white crazy-lace agate beads feature swirls of a pale dove-gray that alludes to the doves Hilda cares for and to her own dovelike nature. And the soft, velvety texture of these matte beads is almost featherlike.
The variety of textures of the gemstones sets off the simplicity of this design's colors and shapes. Besides the matte finish of the crazy-lace agate, there are the smooth polish of the white jade, the crackled texture of the matte fire agate, and the crystalline sparkle of the crazy-agate focal. The combination of simplicity and visual interest makes this necklace versatile enough for both dressy and casual occasions: try it with a summery cotton dress, or wear it with a pair of plaid shorts and a T-shirt with a flattering neckline.
